Welcome to Vasquez Elementary!

The namesake of our school, Margie Moore Vasquez, graduated from Pilot Point High School in 1962. She attended Texas Woman's University, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education & History. In 1969, she graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in reading and linguistics. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso graduating with a Masters degree in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction in 1977. She returned to TWU in 1981, to obtain her Counselor certification and then again in 1982, for her Mid-Management and Supervision certification.

An educator for 44 years, Margie spent 22 years as the Principal of Celina Elementary School. As Principal, she was entrusted with opening the new elementary campus, now known as Lykins Elementary. Margie deeply enjoyed her work as Principal, but her greatest joy came from interacting with her students. When not in her office, she could often be found sharing her favorite stories with classrooms of students. She viewed her staff as family and inspired them through her leadership to pursue further education, leading many to serve not only Celina ISD, but other Districts as specialists, coordinators, directors, and administrators.

Margie currently resides in Aubrey. She is the mother of three children: Donna, Gia, and Craven. Her son, Craven, passed away recently. She has one sister, Peggy Moore Hall Slayton, and one brother, G.A. Moore. Jerry Moore is her cousin.
